In the early days of Perch (formerly 3c32), we constantly struggled to schedule projects in a way that didn’t cause log jams when, for example, the development phases of five small projects overlapped. At that time, we were juggling a dozen or so projects simultaneously among three of us and relying on Basecamp to create calendars and to-do lists for each project.
Basecamp does a lot of things well, but visualizing data is not 37signals’ strong suit. To address our scheduling headaches, we create Trailmap, a free gantt-chart generator for Basecamp that creates an easily-readable chart of project timelines, based on a user-defined milestone naming convention. Sadly, in 2012, Basecamp changed their primary API, so Trailmap currently only works with Basecamp Classic.
Gantt-chart generator based on a user’s Basecamp project timelines, customizable by the user to show/hide projects, choose charted phases and associated milestones, and share charts with others.
