This work stems from a Halloween “second friday” design charrette theme of hocus pocus. Two fun ideas emerged from our inter-office competition. Stacy and Elliot built a monster building web app that flips between different torsos, heads, and legs of a bunch of cute hand-drawn monsters. Don and Meghan and Kaylyn built an augmented reality app in Processing that superimposes various Hocus Pocus (the movie) things onto the user’s face… cat whiskers, witch Mary Sanderson’s beehive hairdo, or Winnie Sanderson’s amazing lips, based on a “spell” read out loud by the user. Both apps coincidentally used Google’s voice-to-text service to change various keywords into commands.
